Een jas die je de koude winter door helpt, verdient ook wel eens een bedankje, vind je niet? Al jaren liep ik rond met het ideeën liefdesbrieven te schrijven naar de favoriete items uit mijn kast. Samen met fotograaf Laila Cohen ontwikkelde ik dit concept vervolgens naar Love Notes: een fotoreeks met daarbij ‘love notes’ naar specifieke kledingstukken en accessoires. We publiceren de serie op Imprint Mag: het online magazine van Laila over high-end duurzame mode en design. Deel 2 van de serie is gewijd aan de parka van Teym. We love our fashion. Noted.
Love Notes is a joined project by fashion writer Lisa Goudsmit and photographer Laila Cohen. The series exist of editorial photographs, created with the help of stylist Anne Mertens, and – of course – love notes. Those small letters express the deep feelings we have for the objects we shine a light on in the photos. Our favourite jeans for example, the ever-perfect striped top, and the parka that makes us feel like we can make it through the rain. (You can start singing here Mariah) Appreciating the items that surround us were status quo decades ago – as was saving for that one piece you really, really wanted to get for your wardrobe. Nowadays, many consumers seem to have lost the contact with the clothing on their backs. And with the bags on their back, for that matter. We want to rejuvenate that sentiment for our wardrobes, especially for the items we invest in. Enjoy these Love Notes and go ahead, write your wardrobe one as well.

Dear parka,
Baby, it was cold outside – but you warmth my heart, body and soul. To be honest: I detest the cold and I can’t stand the rain. (Against my window, but also against my body Tina Turner) No really: my body hurts, my skin dries, my mood freezes. But with you on, I beat those inconveniences. Together we walked in a winter wonderland, we danced, played, ran, laughed and cried. I always feel invincible with you on. When I purchased you, I thought I would only wear you with a casual outfit and not as a fashion statement. But who knew that functionality and comfort could be this smart and sassy? Since the moment I first put you on, I decided you would be the only one for me this winter. And I never cheated on you – okay maybe only once during Christmas. You and me baby, we have a bright future ahead of us. So don’t worry, you are not a one season sweetheart. And you were never supposed to be: you are produced to last for years and years. The Italian water-resistant fabric you are made of gives you a shiny bellezza, the production in Lithuania guarantees your lasting quality – I don’t know the Lithuanian word for that, sorry. Anyway, I can’t wait to beat the cold with you for many seasons to come. Bring it on, winter.
